Join us for Turas Úr, a unique, bilingual arts and culture event that celebrates the rich traditions and vibrant creativity of the Gaeltacht. Taking place on the culturally significant island of Inis Bó Finne, this one-day event will showcase local talent and guest artists through a dynamic program of visual art, poetry, music, and community engagement—all rooted in the island’s language, heritage, and landscape.

Event Highlights:

🌿 Island Art Trail
Wander through an open-air gallery of temporary sculptures, soundscapes, and installations inspired by Inis Bó Finne’s natural beauty. Featuring artists from both the Gaeltacht and beyond, all works will follow a leave-no-trace approach, in harmony with the environment.

📖 Poetry Open Call & Performances
Three selected poets—local and national—will create original works inspired by the island, performed live during the event. Curated with input from the local community, the poetry program offers a platform for authentic storytelling and creative reflection.

🏡 Artist Residency
A week-long residency will allow a selected poet or artist to immerse themselves in island life, culminating in a new work that responds to the history, landscape, and people of Inis Bó Finne.

🎨 Bilingual Workshops – Island & Mainland
In the lead-up to the event, and on the day itself, family-friendly, bilingual arts workshops will be held both on the island and on the mainland. The resulting creations will be featured along the art trail, fostering connection and collaboration across communities.

🎶 Traditional Céilí at the Island Hall
Celebrate the island’s musical roots with a lively traditional céilí. Local and guest musicians will come together to bring the rhythms of Inis Bó Finne to life, inviting all to join in the dancing and joy.

🤝 Community Collaboration
Every element of Turas Úr is shaped in partnership with the people of Inis Bó Finne. From poetry curation and workshop planning to storytelling and heritage sharing, the event places community voices at its core.

Why It Matters:
Turas Úr champions the Irish language and Gaeltacht identity by integrating Gaeilge throughout the event—from artistic programming to community participation. It is an opportunity to preserve, celebrate, and reimagine Gaeltacht traditions through contemporary creative expression. Aligning with the broader Earagail Arts Festival, this event will also draw cultural tourists seeking meaningful, place-based experiences.

Don’t miss this immersive, heartfelt celebration of creativity, language, and island life.
